Red Nose Day

Red Nose Day is a day in which you can do lots of activities, no matter how foolish they seem in order to raise fundings for a charity. This is done at my school at least once a term and this year, money. This year will go to the Pa de Sant Antoni of the Capuchin Friars, but on some other occasions, the fundraising goes to AYNE Perú.

Apart from wearing something funny in class, such as a red nose to raise awareness among the students, we are going to watch a video Mukure: Life in an Urban Slum for Denis, answer some questions and write our impressions

  • Who is the young boy? And who does he live with?
  • Where does he live?
  • What is his environment like?
  • What do you understand by the term ‘urban slum’?
  • What is Dennis’s life like?

In the UK, this event, Red Nose Day takes places on a Friday in March, every two years, alternately with Sport Relief , event where people run a mile for fundraising too. All the donations will go to Comic Relief, the charity which organises the event in the UK.

English Plus 3 has a text where we find out about the origings of Comic Relief. "It started when a group of comedians decided to use comedy and humour to raise money to fight hunger, poverty, disease and injustice".

So this Friday 15, Do Something Funny for Money on Red Nose Day
