Somebody that I Used to Know

Who hasn't heard Gotye's song Somebody That I Used to Know so far? Some of us even have thought he was Sting's son as his timbre is rather similar. However, he is not even British, but Belgian-Australian. The name "Gotye" is derived from "Gauthier", the French equivalent of "Walter" or "Wouter", his real name.

Taking advantage of the video we are going to revise not so common word of the semantic field of body. Afterwards I am going to talk about tattooing in New Zealand as body art. The we will open a debate about tattoos.

The song and the activities have been chosen and done by Jaume C. and I expect he revises the use of used to for past habits.
.

1. Complete the gaps with the correct words.

2. Translate the highlighted sentences.

Somebody that I used to know

Now and then I think of when we were together

Like when you said you felt so _____ you could die

I told myself that you were right for me

But felt so lonely in your company

But that was love and it's an ache I still _____

You can get addicted to a certain kinda sadness

Like resignation to the end, _____ the end

So when we found that we could not make sense

Well you said that we would still be _____

But I'll admit that I was glad that it was over

But you didn't have to cut me off

Make it like it never happened and that we were nothing

I don't even need your love, but you treat me like a stranger

And that feels so rough

No, you didn't have to stoop so low

Have your friends collect your records

And then _____ your number

Guess that I don't need that though

_____ you're just somebody that I used to know
(repeated)

Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over

But had me believing it was always something that I'd _____

But I don't wanna live that _____

Reading into every word you say

You said that you could let it _____

And I wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know .

Miguel Ángel S. also proposes the song for his class; in addition to some filling th gaps exercises where he provides the words, we are going to do the following activities, where he wants us to practise past simple:

even / your / And / don’t / love / I / need .

together / and / I / Now / of / then / were / think / we / when

2.- Correct the sentences.
